SMSC at Quorn Hall School

Social, Moral, Spiritual and Cultural (SMSC) development is at the heart of everything that we do here at Quorn Hall School and is woven throughout our whole curriculum. Personal development includes Personal, Social, Health and Economic and Citizenship education (PSHCE) including Relationship and Sex Education (RSE), SMCS (to include British Values), Preparation for adulthood and Careers development.

As a school, academic studies are incredibly important to us, but we also want to see our pupils achieving their academic potential because of their ongoing personal development: their emotional regulation, their reflective practice, their understanding of the wider world and their own aspirations for the future.

We see Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural (SMSC) development as important for individual pupils and for society as a whole. We believe it is at the heart of what education is all about - helping pupils to grow and develop.

We strive to create a learning environment which promotes respect, diversity and self awareness and which also equips all of our pupils with the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values they will need to succeed in their future lives.

Woven through our curriculum and extracurricular activities, we ensure that we promote fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and tolerance and respect.
